不出為奇,Dani Cavallaro的書本身是寫給大眾的,以學術界的嚴謹度而言是差了一些。但不代表其作品不好,例如Magic, Ritual, and Witchcraft上一篇對她著作的評論指出「It should be noted, however, that this book is not an academic monograph: like Cavallaro's other works, it is written for a popular market. The use of cliché, repetitious phrasing, and some Orientalist essentializing makes for a book that is unlikely to endear the author to those expecting a more rigorous work……and the ways they have been examined as objects of scholarly study, may find works by Ichiro Hori, Tamaki Saitö, Jolyon Baraka Thomas, and Noriko Reider, among others, to be of greater value.
