马修·路易斯·“马特”·盖茨二世（英语：Matthew Louis "Matt" Gaetz II，/ˈɡeɪts/，1982年5月7日—）是一位共和党籍的美国政治人物，曾任联邦众议员于2017年至2024年间代表佛罗里达州第一国会选区。盖茨是特朗普的盟友，也是一位自由意志民粹主义者[1]，而媒体和民主党人广泛认为他是极右派[2][3]。

2024年11月13日，美国当选总统唐纳德·特朗普宣布将提名盖茨在第二次特朗普内阁中担任美国司法部长[4]。11月21日，受多方争议困扰的盖茨在X上宣布他退出司法部长的提名[5]。

2024年12月24日，美国众议院道德委员会（英语：United States House Committee on Ethics）发表调查报告，披露马特·盖茨定期向女性支付“从事性行为”的费用、与一名17 岁女孩发生性行为、使用或持有可卡因或迷幻药（MDMA/Ecstasy）、接受超出众议院限额的礼物、妨碍司法公正等。[6]

盖茨于1982年5月7日出生于佛罗里达州好莱坞，父亲是唐·盖茨（英语：Don Gaetz），唐·盖茨后来成为当地著名政治家政治人物[7][8][9]。盖茨的父亲于2006年至2016年代表佛罗里达狭地部分地区担任佛罗里达州参议院议员，于2012年至2014年担任佛罗里达州参议院议长，并于2024年再次当选为佛罗里达州参议院议员[10]。盖茨的祖父杰里·盖茨（英语：Jerry Gaetz）是北达科他州拉格比市的市长，也是1964 年北达科他州共和党州代表大会上北达科他州副州长的候选人，但在大会上他因心脏病去世[11]。

他在华尔顿堡滩附近长大，毕业于尼斯维尔高中（英语：Niceville High School）[12][13]。他于2003 年毕业于佛罗里达州立大学，获得跨学科理学士学位，并于2007年毕业于威廉与玛丽法学院，获得法学博士学位[14][15]。盖茨于2008年2月6日获得佛罗里达州律师资格[16]。

自2010年开始，他是佛罗里达第一选区选出的佛罗里达州众议院议员[21]。在州议会任职期间，盖茨和州参议员乔·内格伦（英语：Joe Negron）提出法案，要求州长签署对那些已经用尽上诉的囚犯的处决令，以加快对佛罗里达州死囚牢房中许多囚犯的处决[22]。他也与州参议员格雷格·埃弗斯（英语：Greg Evers）一起提出法案，取​​消联邦乙醇含量规定，即佛罗里达州销售的汽油中10% 含有乙醇[23]；佛罗里达州州长里克·斯科特于2013年5月签署了该法案[24]。

盖茨是2015年因“个人仇恨”而投票反对佛罗里达州一项法案的两名成员之一，该法案将复仇式色情定为犯罪行为，此前他曾成功阻止该法案[25]。

自2017年开始，他是佛罗里达州第一国会选区从2016年美国众议院选举选出的佛罗里达州众议院议员[26]。盖茨在2018年佛罗里达州州长选举（英语：2018 Florida gubernatorial election）竞选期间担任共和党州长候选人罗恩·德桑蒂斯的高级竞选顾问。据《政客》报道，他管理德桑蒂斯的辩论准备工作并“起草了早期政府组织结构图，帮助指导早期政策决策，并在德桑蒂斯的任命内阁中发挥了巨大作用”[27]。

2021年，盖茨和佐治亚州众议员马玛乔丽·泰勒·格林于5月7日在佛罗里达州村子开始了全国性的“美国优先之旅”[28]。在访问期间，盖茨和格林多次指控2020年美国总统选举中的选举舞弊，攻击大型科技公司，并在一次活动中声称美国宪法第二修正案是为了“维持公民内部武装叛乱的能力，如果有必要的话”[29][30]。

2021年6月，盖茨是投票反对一项决议的21名众议院共和党人之一，该决议将国会金质奖章授予1月6日国会山骚乱保卫美国国会大厦的警察[31]。

2023年2月，盖茨邀请科里·瑞安·比克曼（Corey Ryan Beekman）在司法委员会听证会上主持宣誓。比克曼于2019年在密歇根州被指控犯有谋杀罪，受害者家属批评了这项邀请[32][33][34]。盖茨在之后向受害者家属道歉[35]。

争议

众议院道德委员会（英语：United States House Committee on Ethics）于2021年4月开始对盖茨涉嫌不当行为进行调查，但很快就在司法部调查期间暂停了调查[42][43] 。2023年2月司法部调查结束后不久，众议院道德委员会重新启动调查。该委员会联系了盖茨的前女友，她于2022年获得豁免并在刑事调查中作证，但据报道委员会并不指望她自愿配合道德调查[44] 。两名女性均由律师代表作证说，盖茨付钱给她们进行性交易。其中一名女性表示，2017年7月她看到盖茨与她17岁的朋友发生性关系，一旦盖茨意识到女孩的年龄他就暂停了这段关系，直到她年满18 岁[45]。该委员会获得的记录显示，2017年7月至2019年1月期间，盖茨在27笔Venmo交易和一张支票中向两名女性支付了总计超过10,000美元的款项[46]。

11月18日，一名骇客声称获得了该报告的资料[55]。11月21日，众议院道德委员会决定在12月5日之前完成报告并投票决定是否发布。消息人士称，一些委员会共和党人在这次投票中加入了民主党（发布）的行列但大部分委员会共和党人投票反对让该报告定稿。这意味着成员将投票决定是否在该日期发布最终报告。在周三进行的多次投票中，共和党人一致阻止发布该报告[56][57]。
